All writing that I have planned for the foreseeable future is going to have at least a few fantasy elements. It’s where my passion lies in reading so that’s what I write. I do have a lot of love for Sci-fi, so once I feel more established I may take a crack at that as well. Who knows, I might even blend the two. Stranger things have been done and were wonderful. If you want an idea of people that I like so you have some idea of my influences, here are some of my favorite authors: Douglas Adams, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Jacqueline Carey, David Eddings, and Anne McCaffrey. That list is in no particular order and by no means is it all inclusive. If you want to get a better sense of my writing style right now then check out my blog on the main page.
When I started my whole crazy novel writing adventure it was nearly August 1st. I decided that by the end of the year I wanted to complete my novel. I figured 100,000 words was a pretty good length to aim for so decided to see how many words per day it would take to hit it. 100,000 words divided over approximately 150 days of course comes out to be 666 and 2/3. It was too perfect. I’m not at all religious and I find people’s aversion to the number amusing. I used to work in retail and I would have people change their purchases if the total came to $6.66. So, that’s how my daily writing goal became 666 words and it is working well. It’s a nice reminder that the only way to get this novel completed without working for it is to make a deal with the Devil. Well, if I believed in him anyway.
