About

February 12, 2011- I grew up in a tiny town in western Michigan. I survived high school and then did a bunch of stuff that didn’t really amount to anything at all. Eventually I met the woman that would become my wife and I realized I could do a lot better than a life of slinging burgers in Michigan. I moved out to the west coast to be with her and started pursuing my lifelong dream of becoming a writer. I wrote in my spare time and when my wife and I got bored with a job or location we’d move and try out something new.

Thinking back on those various moves we were only really happy for about a year in any one place and I never really got much writing done because there wasn’t much spare time to be had. As the years wore on we started talking about ways to travel more and more frequently. We even talked about ways to travel long term. We’ve been in Portland for about a year and during one of our conversations about travel we realized it was time. We had the means and we were going to do it.

We made the conscious decision to become vagabonds when our lease runs out at the end of May. We are getting rid of most of our crap, storing a few things, and hitting the road with no real plans to settle down any time soon. It’s going to be a crazy ride. You might want to stick around and read about it.
